Privacy notice for parents
Last updated 18 October 2026. This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice.
- Your child does not need an account, an email address or a name to play.
- The game is saved only on your device. We don't receive it and can't see it.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics and no cookies. Apart from loading the game's own files from our website (and checking for game updates), it makes no internet requests while your child plays.
- There is no chat and no way for your child to contact anyone.
- You can delete everything at any time (see "Deleting your child's game").
Who we are
Trophora Academy is run by Alexander Ifidon, a sole trader trading as Trophora, 52 Larden Road, London W3 8HJ, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected], or write to us at that address. We also run Trophora (13+) at trophora.com, which has its own privacy policy. Trophora Academy does not use Trophora's accounts, sign-in, payments or usage counts.
What the game stores, and where
To work, the game keeps a small amount of game data in your browser's storage on your device. It never leaves the device unless you choose to share it (see "Codes and files you share").
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The chosen age band (5–7, 8–10 or 11–12), not a date of birth | To set the words, help and difficulty |
| Settings: read-aloud, sound, calm mode, break reminder, card swaps | So the game remembers your choices |
| Game progress: stickers, quiz and match totals, the made-up player in My Star, the Team Boss squad and season, which clips have already been shown, and a count of activity per day for the last 14 days (lessons, quizzes, matches, penalties, My Star days) | So your child can carry on where they left off, clips don't replay, and the parent area can show "This week". The daily counts are deleted after 14 days |
| A copy of the game's own files (offline cache) | So the game works without the internet |
Player names are made from word lists (for example "Lucky Kai"), not typed in. The game never asks for your child's real name, birthday, school, photo, voice, location or contact details.
What we receive
Nothing from the game itself. We have no server for the game, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.
The game's files are delivered by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, like any website. To deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare's systems process basic request details (such as an IP address and browser type) for a short time. We do not use these to identify, profile or track anyone. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping the website available and secure. Cloudflare may process this data outside the UK under safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
This is the only technical information that reaches us or our host when your child opens the game. We do not ask for it, we do not link it to a child, and we do not use it to contact anyone, show adverts, build a profile or track a child across websites or apps.
Things that run on the device only
- Read-aloud uses your device's own built-in voice. The game only uses voices that run on the device, so the words are not sent anywhere.
- The camera is used only if a grown-up switches on card swaps in the parent area, and only while your child is scanning a friend's QR code. The picture is read on the device to find the code. It is not saved or sent.
- Sound is made by the game itself. There is no radio, streaming or online music.
Codes and files you share
Some features create a code or file that a person chooses to pass on:
- Card swap codes (QR codes shown screen to screen, in person) and "play my team" codes (copied in the parent area for you to send yourself) contain only game data: made-up player names, positions, skill numbers and kit colours.
- A graduation file (made in the parent area when your child is 13 or older, to move their player into Trophora) contains only game data: the made-up player name, look, position, skills and badges.
We don't receive these. Whoever you give them to can see the game data inside.
Designed for children
We built Trophora Academy around the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code):
- High privacy by default: nothing is shared, and card swaps start switched off.
- Data minimisation: only the game data above, kept on the device.
- No profiling, no geolocation and no data sharing.
- No nudges: no loot boxes, no random rewards, no "come back tomorrow" pressure, and nothing for children to buy. The game is free.
- Parental controls are visible: a grown-ups' area behind a parent gate (a times-table question written in words), with settings, break reminders and data deletion.
- Links out are behind the parent gate. Children can't reach other websites from inside the game.
Deleting your child's game
- In the game: Grown-ups (answer the parent question) → Delete all game data on this device.
- Or clear the site data for academy.trophora.com in your browser settings, or remove the app from your home screen and clear its data.
As we hold no copy, deleting it on the device deletes it completely.
Where the game is offered
Trophora Academy is available worldwide. We run it from the United Kingdom, and it is made for children aged 5 to 12. Many countries have their own rules for children's privacy. Here is how the game fits with the main ones, in plain English. This is a summary, not legal advice.
- United Kingdom. The game collects no personal data from children. The only technical details are the website delivery details above. We follow the ICO's Children's Code (see "Designed for children").
- European Union. Rules about a parent's permission for a child's data (GDPR Article 8) apply when a service asks for a child's consent. The game does not ask for consent because it collects nothing from your child. If we ever add a feature that does, we will ask a parent first.
- United States. The US law is called COPPA. Under it, an IP address counts as personal information. The law lets a website collect only an identifier like an IP address, without asking a parent first, when it is used just to run the website (this is called "support for the internal operations"). We collect no other personal information from children.
- What the details are used for: delivering the game's pages and files to your device, keeping the site secure and fixing faults.
- What we do not do: we do not use them to contact a child, to show adverts, to build a profile, to track a child across other websites or apps, or for any other purpose.
- Who to contact: Alexander Ifidon, trading as Trophora, 52 Larden Road, London W3 8HJ, United Kingdom, [email protected], telephone 07982 137120 (from outside the UK: +44 7982 137120). Parents can ask us anything about their child's information or ask us to delete it.
- Other countries. Places such as Canada, Australia, Brazil, India, China and South Korea have their own rules about children's data, and some are new or still being finalised. Because the game collects no personal data from children, we expect it to sit comfortably within the main ideas of those rules, but we cannot promise it meets every country's law. If you think the game should not be offered in your country, please tell us.
Your rights and complaints
Because we hold no personal data from the game, there is usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete. You can still ask us anything at [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or call 0303 123 1113. If you live outside the UK, you can also contact your own country's data protection or consumer authority.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top. If we ever add something that collects data, such as accounts or online play, we will update this notice before it goes live, and the feature will need a parent's permission.
